Post Disrespect amoung Mustang Owners

Man am I mad. I let a "friend" of mine borrow my 77 C&L mass air meter and my K&N Conical filter for a couple of days while I do some repairs to my motor. Well now its time for me to get my car out so I call him to ask him for my parts back. He answers the phone and as soon as he hears my voice he hangs up. I see him driving around town and I ask him to pull over and he floors it and takes off. I have called many times and every time he hangs up. Never returns pages. Completely ignoring me!!! What should I do??? My girlfriends brother in law is a sherriff. I told him and he is going to see what he can do. I am very careful to what I say to him just in case this ends up in small claims court. I just bought this new meter a few days ago for like 300.

What an ******* ! I feel bad for you on that one. He's not really a friend. I can't believe a friend would sell you out for something so cheap! Well I would goto the cops first off but its going to be your word against his. Maybe it will scare him into returning it though. After that you might have to take some action yourself . If I was out there I'd go ruff him up with you.

Do you still have the reciept? If so, check and see if it has the serial number on it, lamenate the sucker, and take his arse to court. Ofcoure there is always the old fashioned way to get, but then you've stooped to his level. If that doesn't work, hire a hit man to get it back. ****** people suck!

sorry to be so blunt bud, but where I come from you get a few buddies and beat his Mother F--king *** and never talk to him again. If you have the right friends they will always stick up for you saying you were no where near him when it happened. Sorry I'm so criminally minded but I hate ppl that are 2-faced like him. Just my warped 2 cents.

You mean to tell me he's selling you out for a conical filter and an MAF?

What an *** , after you get it back, beat his *** !

I'd press charges for sure. Break out the reciept and go to town.

I was a dumbass and misplaced the reciept. But I have plenty witnesses that knows its mine. My sisters boyfriend(Sherriff) said he will scare him a bit to try to get it back. I figured if that doesnt work I got enough witnesses to take him to small claims court over it. I get lawyer fees for free from work. He just got out of a big court issue so I dont think he wants another one. And the thing about jumping him is that he ALWAYS carrys a gun with him. He seemed like a really good friend and he said he was just going to borrow to run at the track and bring it back after a couple of hours.

Well, it's good that you can get free legal advice from work, but small claims court means you represent yourself, no legal representation allowed to make your case. I don't like going this road any more than the rest of you, but you may have to resolve this in a fashion he'll understand. I dislike violence, so my suggestion would be...he's gotta park sometime. Gone in 60 seconds, get your parts back & report it 'abandoned' to your Sheriff friend so it gets impounded. This way, you get your parts, nobody else messes up his car(though tempting, it's still wrong),& he gets the joy of getting his car out of impound...& if he has your parts on it, he likely has other 'less-than-legal' parts on it, too. I agree that he needs a good beatdown, though. Good luck

IF he leaves his car outside just go get the stuff back one night and a couple of other things that u might need. I don't like to involved with cops and stuff. So i wouldn't do that.

What really sucks is that i am leaving for vataction here in a couple of hours and he will think he got away with it cause i wont see him for a week. His doors are always locked so I cant get under his hood! Otherwise I would already have my parts back. I have many a friends ready to kick his car and his cars. My friend has a 4*4 Ram and said he will gladly hook a chain to the axel and pull it a few blocks. This will be my last check on this subject til prob friday or so. Does anyone know how to pop the hood without having to pull the switch inside of the car???

BAAAAAAD idea. You're looking at trying to resolve the situation by breaking the law yourself. AND you're asking advice from fellow members on how to do it. Do as others have suggested, contact the authorities and be more careful picking your "friends" in the future.

Thumbs down

Dawg:

Well, breaking into his car is risky, both in a legal sense and in a practical one if he always carries a gun.

This looks like a losing deal for you, unless you have some success with a legal solution or using the Sheriff to 'convince' him to do what's right, but that may not work, either.
This dude sounds like a hardcase and probably not a guy to push too far unless you are ready and more than willing to back it up.
I hate to say it, but guys like this usually only pull this kind of crap on people that they figure will take it. At least that's been my experience. Whatever his motivation to screw you over, if the Sheriff and/or court doesn't solve this dilemma, then I would let it go and use it as a lesson to avoid people who don't appear to respect you.
That lack of respect easily leads to abuse of your 'friendship' and here you are. Screwed.
Chasing some creep around town and planning to break into his car and so on, just to regain what is legally and rightfully yours.
If the guy had one iota of respect for you, he would have just given the parts back, as agreed. Anyway, I wish you well and hope this gets resolved, but don't get into legal or personal trouble over $250. worth of parts. Life is too short and sweet to waste getting crazy and stressed over this kind of garbage.

Cool

I see something interesting, Smokedawg. You say your so called "friend" carries a gun? Hmmm.....you have a couple friends that are Sherrif deputies and I'm assuming he's about the same age as you he is carrying that weapon ILLEGALLY. You might tell your deputy friends about this. Trust me, it works. Some kid keyed my truck and I knew who it was but couldn't "prove it" to the cops. So I mentioned that the kid carried an illegal handgun in his truck. hehe, I would like to have been there when they arrested him at his high school a couple days later. I have family and friends in the dept, myself. Food for thought.

I wanna start off by saying i pitty the fool who'd steal anything from the people who posted here above, ouch!

As for gettin' your stuff back, unfortunatly the cops are a total waste of time.

Wan't in on his car? Do you have Keyless Remote? Try it on his car. Garantee if you have one it will open 1 in 3 Mustang car doors and/or trunk in Canada (i assume this applies to the US too).

Where about in Ottawa are u from, first my car doesn't have remote locks but that ain't a bad idea. You can be in and gone in a 5.0 with one 8 in. screw driver and 60 sec. NOT like the hollywood style movie!

Give me a slim jim, a hammer, a screw driver, and about 20 seconds and I'll have the whole damn car for you. Hehe...just kidding. On one hand I agree with Mr. 5.0....this isn't worth getting yourself hurt over. If your friend at the sheriff's office can't help, then you may be sh!t outta luck. If so, refer to what JL1314 said. Just flatten his tires (but only 3...if you do all 4 insurance covers it). I'm devoutly against vandalising the cars of others...but I'm also against stealing parts from people who you hang out with.

just wear gloves, a pair of shoes you can toss and a mask. bring a crowbar and *pry his hood open* in the middle of the night. make sure if you get any paint on the crowbar to take care of it have a cordless drill and small light.

if he has no alarm *smash his quarter glass* in with a towel and a small sledge hammer or regular hammer. reach in, unlock and then just pop his trunk the normal way.

*not responsible if you get caught!*
