![]() how long has it been since the tech articles were updated in mustangworks? i think a complete aftermarket 5.0 head comparison, no brand excluded, should be done. along with every possible statistic on each head, flow #s, chamber size, special considerations....everything. also what cam profiles work best with each head for street/strip use and where peak torque and horsepower would likely occur with each combo. intakes can vary depending on what style works best, carb/injected both considered. if this is too much to research with printed texts, how about an article just base on flow theories....like if you want to make 300+ hp in the 5500-6000 range try choosing a head that flows "x" cfm @ .500 lift and "y" chamber size along with a cam with "z" profile. use a typical stock bottom end 5.0 as mule and go from there. is this asking too much?

![]() I am sure everyone out there would like to have a tech article like this, but with so many different possible combinations,(intakes, heads, cams, etc.) who is willing to put up the cash to dyno test each one and write up the results? Great idea but I doubt it will happen any time soon!

![]() Actually we have added many articles to the site over just the past year. Where have you been? Yes, the "Cylinder Head Science" article was done about three years ago. However, the beauty of the Web is that once an article is done it is always there for the reading. And, I think that article is still quite helpful and valid.
What you suggest is quite extensive, and as one member has already pointed out, quite time consuming and expensive. I wouldn't expect something that in-depth any time soon. Although at some point it is possible we may do another head comparison or similar article, but again, it wouldn't be that comprehensive. ------------------ Dan McClain, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1991 Mustang GT - NOVI Supercharged 377 Stroker 1999 Ford Lightning SVT - Supercharged 5.4L Triton |

![]() the rags could do it but they wont. they dont want to pi$$ off an advertiser by tell you brand X is decisively better than brand Y when Y just gave them thousands for ad space. if you call the manufacturers they will just tell you theirs is the best. i havent been able to access any new tech from the same stuff that was on here when i joined....maybe im not looking in the right place. im almost sure there's a given rule of thumb when selecting a set of heads for a given purpose, like a formula. theres a formula for calculating final drive ratio and a formula for finding static compression...etc...

![]() You must not look hard enough. Our tech articles are in the "Technical : Articles" section, or go HERE.
In the past six months alone we have posted articles such as Stand Tall, Bellhousing Blues, Lighten Your Front End!, Let it Flow!, etc... And that's in addition to vehicle coverage, event coverage, and Mustang and Ford related news. Furthermore, we also have several new technical features soon to come. So, lighten up. ------------------ Dan McClain, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1991 Mustang GT - NOVI Supercharged 377 Stroker 1999 Ford Lightning SVT - Supercharged 5.4L Triton [This message has been edited by Dan McClain (edited 11-02-2000).] |
