Question Slo-leen

Alright Guys.. I'm stumped on this one. My '96 Saleen is a Slo-leen. The car doesn't run right. This is what it does (and I'll try my best to explain it):

If I slam on the gas pedal, it doesn't feel like all the power is there. It seems like it is at 80% throttle but the extra 20% comes between 2500-3000 rpms. (there is No Nitrous). Now, if I ease into the gas pedal to full throttle, the car feels stronger and quicker.

here is what I think:
1) Bad fuel filter. Time to get a new one.
2) Horrible acceleration response.
3) Bad clutch or bad drivetrain??

Help me, guys. Thanks
