Default A different kind of GT-40 head question

I think. Anyway, first, are there any casting numbers or any ID on the GT-40 or GT-40P heads to identify them at a swap meet?

Second, are the GT-40Ps set up for standard-type, bolt-in rockers and will the will stock valve covers fit them?

Third, (which isn't exactly related to the heads), will the stock valve covers work with any roller rockers? Will the FMS 1.6s work or even the Cobra style 1.7s? I really want to keep the stock covers to keep it looking, well, stock. Plus, call me crazy, but I luv the way those covers look.

As always, thanks for the help.

yes it is quite easy to pick out a gt-40 head..regaulr gt-40 heads will say GT on each head below the spark plug holes..they can also be distinguished by 3 lines on the end of the head where the acessories or the EGR on the back of the head wold be located

GT40P heads will still say GT(or it might say GTP..i dont tember) on each head and will have 4 lines at the ends of the heads and can be quickly seperated from any other head out there by the angle that the spark plug goes into the head..they go in perpendiclar to the head as oposed to at about a 35deg angle

some roller rockers will work under the stock valve covers..you want to look for the round style as oposed the the boxier type if you wish to use the stock valve covers...cutting out the baffle will most likly still be required

I'm running bolt-on FMS 1.6 roller rockers on my GT-40ps.

I always look for the 3 or 4 lines to see if they are indeed GT-40 heads.
