Found a really good deal on a brand spankin new REBUILT T5 (found a damn good deal...so I had to go for it) ...Does it still apply?

If not, I am still kind of curious what it was...

Thanks,
DoranW

I'd definaltely suggest a steel bearing retainer. They're not very expensive and provide good peace of mind.

Yes, a new rebuilt trans still applies, but only if the synchro's were replaced in the rebuild, which usually they are.

First, a steel bearing retainer.

Second, Don Jr., of D&D Performance, a premier T-5 rebuilder told me NOT to run synthetic fluids, there is a compatability thing there with the synchro's, use Dextron III and to ADD 2 ounces of friction modifier when filling it for the first time, said it helps the synchro's wear in easier.

and third, an aluminum driveshaft.

No you do not need one, the AOD and T-5 use the same driveshaft. But I would highly reccomend getting an aluminum one. They cut alot down on vibrations through the driveline

OK, I'll bite ...how much are they? And they really make that big of a difference?

Thanks,

If you get an adjustable cable, then the cover will not fit on there.
most people just leave it off completely, and some will modify the cover to allow the extra length of the cable

aluminum driveshafts are about $160, and will cut down a HUGE amount of vibrations.
