![]() I need advice from anyone who has done the swap before or who has big block experience in the fox bodies.
I have a 1976 460 that I am going to put in a coupe, yes I am going to keep it EFI or convert it rather. I will be going with the spider intake, electric water pump, new crank, pistons, rods, cam, basically everything. Can I use the wiring harness and computer that is in my fox now or will I have to use one out of a EFI 460 truck or so? Also I am going with the C6 setup and most likely a 9 inch rearend with the 4.11 gears. Obviously I will need new springs up front for all of the new weight, but what about frame reenforcement? I know hooker makes headers to fit in the car and I found the oil pan i need for it. Any other tip or pictures of those who have done this or known someone who has? Thanks!

![]() With any swap it is all details, have a plan and do not get in a rush.
Probe industries has a big block swap kit for 650 something dollars, and I am sure there are other's that make them also, but they jump out at me right now,ProPower is another good source. I see no reason for the harness not to work,I think it will be alright,of course you will need bigger injectors, you might want to give Painless Performance a call they are the experts on wiring harnesses and the like and they will tell you if you need to upgrade at all. Headers either you can go with the Probe kit or have some custom headers done up,I am sure Kooks will be more than happy to bend you a set of headers and their quality speaks for itself. If you do not have subframes on it,now would be a good time to install them, nothing wrong with a 9 inch rear but why not just upgrade what you have you know 31 splines, axles, diff, bearings seals,if you have a deal cut on the 9 inch go for it. Sounds like a strong machine, only thing I tell you, have a plan, weigh your options,do your homework, keep frustration at a minimum, and it should be alright. Good luck with it.

![]() Thanks. With all of the kits i have seen for this swap it should go rather smooth. I never thought about just upgrading the 8.8, it has the 4.10 gear but that is about as far a aftermarket it goes. I was going to absolutely go with the 31 spline axles too. Thanks for all of the info.

![]() Hey USMC302,
there are a few more gear ratio's out there for the 8.8,you can either the 4.10's,4.30.4.56.4.88.or 5.13. 5.13 is the lowest you can go,just becareful backing off the throttle, you might get thrown through the windshield when you back off the throttle they are some really low gears. But with the stroker big blocks, torque is not going to be a problem, good luck with it,and have fun. I know a little not everything but I will help out where I can.
