Post 13s from a 92 GT

I'm planing on buying a 1992 GT 5-speed. I only make abut $80 bucks a week at my after-school job and 50 of that goes to the car payment, but at least I don't have to pay for gas. I plan on installing 3.73 gears, power pulleys, off-road H-pipe with 2 chamber flowmasters, cold air induction, a tri-ax shifter, and later on a 100 HP shot of NOS. What will this combo run without NOS. What will it run with NOS. Any other mod I can do that are pretty cheap.

I'm guessing around 14.95-15.2 at around 92-94mph. Depends on the track elevation. Going to the dragstrip is a sobering experience. It's all about slicks. With slicks you can dump the clutch at 5000Rpm and slingshot that baby out the hole. Street tires are very difficult to launch as they don't grip for anything, resulting in poor times. Mph tells you horsepower while E.T. determines how good that car accelerates(hooks).

i put most of my mods on with my after school job, just plan on being broke... adjust your timing, remove the air box, BUY A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, put new wires and plug in (autolite 23s or 13s), and an electric fan. i've seen a stock 90 gt run 13.90 with a paper air filter and stock exhaust... bone stock- good luck and have fun

If you really want to give this car a kick in the balls and dont plan on a lot of long distance driving I would consider a set 4.10's.

I got my bone stock 91 GT to go 14.7 and that was the first time I had ever been to the track, it took me about 7 passes to get that. With those mods it should put you in the mid 13's with ease, and with the 100 shot should get you 12's.

I went 12.87 @ 104 with 1.7's, pullies, ram air, all the free stuff, full exhaust, 70/30's, 50/50's, SSM lowers Eibach kit, with 3:73's, other wise stock motor with 167K miles. Now I can say that I had a very good car it must have been built on a Tuesday , but you will need to learn how to drive on the radials which is a art. The best I ever went on radials was 13.20, I drove it off the line like I would at a stop light then hammer it and power shift the hell out of it. I bolted my 10.5" D.O.T's and with no changes except a 4500rpm launch I went 12.87.I agree with Smokedawg, if you plan on doing a good amount of racing go for the 4:10's, and do the suspension if you can't get the power to the ground it's not worth having.

hey man,

i had a 90 GT and had 3.73's, pulley, shifter, and unlra flo mufflers and ran a 14.1 @ 98. 13's should be pretty easy assuming decent air and elevation with the combo you're lookin' at. drag radials or slicks are a great investment, i had to really drive mine to get the 14.1, with slicks it's much more consistent, just my .02.

------------------
94 cobra, steeda tri-ax, ultra flo's

14.2 @ 99 (stock)
