Post Nitrous Precautions..

I just ordered a used 50-175 HP adjustable wet nitrous kit. What precautions should I take after install.

So far I have heard to tighten the gap on my spark plugs, but how far?

Go a range colder?

Retard the timing 1degree per 25hp, and hit it over 3000rpm only.

Is there anything else?

Thanks guys...

Skyler

BETTER HEAD BOLTS & GRAPHITE GASKETS ( IF YOU DONT HAVE ALLREADY) BETTER IGNITION (DONT KNOW WHAT U HAVE) SET TIMING TO 8* & GO FROM THERE, ID GO 2-4 HEAT RANGES COLDER & LASTLY, RUN IT ON 92+OCTN GAS, NONE OF THAT 87 STUFF ANYMORE.

Cool

you might look into the MSD timing retard, you can adjust the timing remotely.. that way you dont lose much when the bottle isnt on..and dont leave the bottle on all the time.. if the seals in the N0S soleniod decide to leak, you might have an intake in orbit the next time you start the car ;-)
maybe a remote bottle opener...

I'm using a 100hp dry kit, but go at least 1 heat range colder and timing at 10* to start. Definitely need some kind of aftermarket ignition, high octane gas 92 or so. You've probably already got a good fuel pump, good head gaskets and bolts so just make sure everything is nice and tight.

One note too, don't use platinum plugs with the nitrous, you'll do a lot of damage with them, I'm not sure on the actual workings but I've seen firsthand that nitrous and platinum plugs don't mix. According to my kit you can hit the juice at 2,000rpm and over at WOT only.

The only precaution you need to MAKE SURE and do is to always double check the jets you install into the system. That is the only thing you have to worry about as far as blowing up your engine unless you do something really stupid. I am running 150 shot, haven't had any problems with it.

you have a wet system so the fuel is taken care of. gap for the plugs should be around 35-40 depending on how much shot you use. the stock ignition is fine. stock plugs are also fine. set timing at 34- 36 deg. full advance. forget about initial timing. cause you wount be using the juice off idle.keep the motor cool when using the juice and youll be ok. other than that, its pretty basic. oh, and dont hit the rev limiter on the juice. it will burn the pistons.
