			 My 2nd gear syncro is bad you cant shift into 2nd gear when goin a certian speed or it grinds and thats the only gear it does this in now is it worth it just to get that replaced or should I do some preventive matinence and just get a full tranny rebuild, I have a 90gt with 138k with a stock T5 and king cobra clutch if that matters.

			 You could get it rebuilt fairly cheap if you know someone, I had mine done by a friend who's a Ford Trans Tech for next to nothing. It get's much more $$$ if you don't know someone. Figure a good price for a rebuild is going to be ~$400-$500 if your lucky. 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
			Another option is buying a rebuilt T-5 for ~$800, a new T-5Z for ~$1000 or a new 3550 for ~$1500 with the bellhousing. I went with a new T-5Z almost 3 years ago and have been kicking myself in the ***** ever since. I should have gone with the 3550.

			 It's still a T-5, and therefore does not like 6k launches on slicks 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
			  The 3550 can handle much more abuse.

			 if you do go with fixing yours and it is out of the car and all apart anyways, you might as well just have them do a complete rebuild.  if you just get the syncros changed something else might go in a little while and then you'll have to do it all over again. 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
			I did mine myself and it was the first time I had ever seen the inside of a manual transmission. I had a friend helping but he didn't know any more about it than I did. Got a rebuild kit from D&D performance for $159 and a manual for $20. That was probably about 25,000 km's ago and it works great. I also don't drag race (yet) so if you are hard on tranny's you may want to look into something else

			 it is pretty useful 
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
			has step by step instructions for teardown and reassembly has numerous exploded views with every part labeled has tips on what to look for when inspecting parts you probably don't need the manual with the information you already have but if this is your first rebuild it might be useful. For the price it might help you from making any mistakes and costing you more money it is about 70 pages and covers world class and non-world class T-5 trasmissions
