![]() I can see that I do NOT have the knowledge that most of the people on this board do. I am a "classic car virgin" and I registered here to see if I could get some advice on some books that would be good for the beginner. I have been a mustang fan for quite some time now and I took the plunge and bought a 66' coupe with a 289 2 barrel. Anyway, this car is going to need alot of work. Since it does run, I have choosen to start with the interior and electrical work.
Let's get to the point, I need a good guide for these two area's I have mentioned above. If anyone could give me a couple of title's I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance! |

![]() You could check with some of the aftermarket parts houses for restoration and "How To" books and see what they have available, and in the meantime http://www.karmustang.com/restore1.htm

![]() What kind of books you'll need depends alot on how good you are at figuring things out for yourself. They make reproductions of the origional assembly manuals, but they dont come with many instructions. Pretty much just the exploded views of everything. A shop manual is always a good thing to have, because it gives you step by step instructions. If you're looking for a more indepth explanation, try the "how to" books. For instance the "Automotive Electrical Handbook" will give you a general knowledge of auto eletronics. But nothing specific to a Mustang. That coupled with the shop/assembly manual and you should be fine. I've gotten my books at[URL=http://www.mustangsunlimited.com] But then I'm on the East Coast. I'm sure there are plenty of mail order houses by you. Also try Mustang Monthly's website. They have plenty of archived how-to's to choose from. Good Luck

![]() Don't feel bad about being a Mustang virgin. I was too 3 1/2 years ago. Like what's already been stated, I first bought the shop manual (a life saver), all the assembly manuals, and bugged the crap out of anyone who knew anything about Mustangs. A lot of folks at this site know their stuff and have helped me enormously. And don't be afraid to ask what you may perceive as a stupid question. I ask at least one every week or so.
