![]() I took my car to the track yesterday.
60' 1.976 330' 5.453 1/8 8.327 @ 86.37 1/4 12.893 @ 108.4 This was my best time but, I still cant really hook up on slicks...my buddies said that car had a little flame shooting out the tailpipe about 1/2 track = rich? I had my timing at 18 deg. I think there is alot left in my setup...at least I'm hoping. If I can just hook up and cut a 1.7 or something and tune my car in, maybe I'll run a low 12. What do you guys think? Im happy, but I wish I would have hooked up. ------------------ TW Heads, Edlebrock RPM, 75mm TB, 75mm MM, Anderson N-2 cam, stock block, underdrives, paxton regulator, bbk 155 intank, 30lbers, motorsport alum rad msd ignition and coil, 3.73 gear, Tremec 3550, Motorsport HD clutch, K&N, hooker shorties, pacesetter h-pipe, and dynomax cat back, mac upper and lower control arms, no front sway bar. I think that's it. GO ILLINI!!! Waiting for good weather for new times. |

![]() Even a car with stock suspension and good slicks should cut low 1.8-high 1.7's.
Slicks are really touchy with air pressure a 26x9 should have around 12 psi. And if you don't heat them really well they won't hook either. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 12.0 @ 122 1992 BadAzz Wrangler 1993 Explorer |

![]() You have a similar setup as me, But I have drag suspension, and I cut a 1.71 60' on my 12.55 run. Plus you have more motor it looks like than I do.
I run a 10" with 10psi. Skyler ------------------ -1989 Saleen Mustang #406- TFS Heads, E-303, edelbrock intake,70MM TB, 73mm MAF, off road H, headers and 3chamber flows. 12.55@107mph 50-175 Nitrous Works WET Kit just added. |

![]() Is there any unique way that I should heat up my slicks? I have never really had any experience with them and to be quite frank, a 1.9X 60' on slicks eats **** . I am planning on going to the strip on sunday to see if I can improve on my launching technique. Also, judging by my mph, how fast should I be running if I cut a 1.6 60' ft?
Thanks again. ------------------ TW Heads, Edlebrock RPM, 75mm TB, 75mm MM, Anderson N-2 cam, stock block, underdrives, paxton regulator, bbk 155 intank, 30lbers, motorsport alum rad msd ignition and coil, 3.73 gear, Tremec 3550, Motorsport HD clutch, K&N, hooker shorties, pacesetter h-pipe, and dynomax cat back, mac upper and lower control arms, no front sway bar. ![]() It's already Sunday, but....
Back into the water. Don't drive through it. pull forward just out of the water. Drop the clutch in 2nd gear and burn them until a decent amount of smoke comes out. More than a haze, but not a full out cloud. You should then be able to dump the clutch at 4000 rpm and no blaze them too badly. This will get you your 1.7 60 ft. At 108-109 You could probably see a 12.30 if you drove the H-E-doublehockeysticks out of it. |

![]() Thanks for the advice...I just got back from the track and ironically, I did try the method you just told me..the result...spun 1st gear and had to peddle it out inorder to hook...ran a 13.3. I had a buddy of mine drive it, and he ran it today at 12.79 @108.9 with a 1.96 60'...he is one hell of a driver and has a lot of experience with slicks...other than that, I could not launch the car worth a damn...I am beginning to think that my slicks are not worth a damn and its time to switch to mickeys.

![]() I have some hoosier slicks, and they hook up awesome off the line, no spin what so ever. What's this talk about dumping the clutch in 2nd? Just dump it in first, do a burnout until smoke starts pouring off your tires. Is this happening and it still spins? What kind of slicks do you have? I could launch at 6000rpm and they still wouldn't spin.

![]() I have some hoosier drag slicks which I am giving to my buddy and going with ET drags. If you do a burnout in 2nd gear, it will spin the tires faster, thus heating them up more....I would heat them up pretty well, then stage at 3000 and spin them like crazy...I would have to peddle it out inorder to hook. It's pretty fustrating because I know I can hit low 12's the way it sits....this week I am going to get an bag for my right spring, put 4.10's in and get some MT drags and see if I can hook up...the hoosiers were 26X9(i think), they were not 10.5", so that could be the reason.

![]() This is how I do my MT ET DRAGS.
I back into the water box rev it to 5000, drop the clutch and hold the brake. Keep them spinning until they grab and throw me forward w/ the brake on. I have a worn out trak lok and it cuts 1.7's Skyler ------------------ -1989 Saleen Mustang #406- TFS Heads, E-303, edelbrock intake,70MM TB, 73mm MAF, off road H, headers and 3chamber flows. 12.55@107mph 50-175 Nitrous Works WET Kit just added. |

![]() I've got skinnies so I just drive straight through. I stop when the rear tires are in the water. I then pull out just to the top of the pit, do a quick lil spin. I then power brake the car in second gear for about 4-5 seconds, let off the brake and the car leaps forward. I then do a quick hop to make sure they are grabbing. I am running on VERY old M/T ET Drags and I am leaving at about 3500 and spraying as soon as I leave. I'm cutting 1.6's all day long. The only suspension mods I have are Weld in Sub Frame connectors and removed front sway bar, the rest is bone stock.
