Default Straight6 to V8 Conversion

Hey i have a 1967 Mustang Coupe Straight 6. I am currently looking at a 289 from a 67 cougar and a 302 from a 69 Gran Torino. I am wondering if my 3-speed (isnt a top loader) would work with the 289 or 302? Also what engine would be a better pick the 289 or the 302. I have a 8-inch 5 lug rearend for my stang also just hasnt been installed. I also want to know what modifications that i will have to do when i convert my stang to a V8... suspension, tranny, brakes, cooling system etc.
