Default Coating over chrome

I have some brand new BBK longtubes on the way from Summit. I really wanted the ceramic ones, but I sold my old shorties and H-pipe for an amount equal to new longtubes and a shorty H.

Can I coat over the chrome with some VHT high temp paint to prevent surface rust? They will rust without something. I want to eventually send them off and get them coated here locally, but I don't have the money at the moment.

Will anything stick to chrome? I have had great luck with VHT coatings in the past, but I don't know if this will work. It may just flake off.
