Default Deleting Thread

Why can't I delete a thread that I created, it keeps coming up saying I don't have permission to perform this task even though I'm signed in under the same account that I created the thread with.

Members can't delete threads... only edit their posts... What do you want to delete?

We can still delete a post can't we? I mean a response to an established thread?
