![]() Today i bought my first mustang, Its a 95' 5.0 This car was previously owned by a steet racer.. which i did not see when i bought it from the dealer.
I have serveral problems, and i really dont want to go spend another couple thousand on a mechanic.. i want to try to fix it myself. so here is my problem. Fist off the mustang doesnot provide any kick when i push the gas.. it slowly takes off.. ive been in my friends before and i know what it should feel like.. That is my biggiest problem.. any idea what that is? Seconds off i have tons and tons of cut wires in there from the 6 LED's on the bottom to the old ripped out stero cables.. The truck is aligned with some type of aluminium covering with Monster inc. cables running into the back.. Which they probley had some serious equiptment in the back.. which is also.. all torn out. If anyone could answer the question above, and also recommend a few technical mustang guides it would be apreciated. -Nick Last edited by inode; 04-10-2004 at 09:08 AM.. |

![]() First off, we'll need to know more about the car. Is it a stick or auto? How many miles? Any mods? What rear gear? These are all able to affect the feeling/performance of the car. Was your friends car the same year/ body? IIRC the SN95's were a good bit heavier than a fox so stock-stock you might notice a seat of the pants difference from that too.
Some good basic things to start out with would be a full tune up, including all filters (add a k&n if you dont already have one and remove the air silencer) new plugs/wires/cap/rotor, check the timing, a compression check wouldnt be a bad idea either. If the timings stock or near stock, bump it up to 12-14*, but back off a degeree at a time if you get detonation. As far as manuals, first thing would be a Chiltons or Haynes manual (available at most auto parts stores), but there are more detailed ones out there. I perfer Chiltons, but they are kinda hard to find around here. As to the wiring probs, I would need more info as to what was done to it before hazarding a guess, and even then, I'm no guru. Hope this helps, Jorge

![]() Along with the above it probably wouldn't hurt to change O2 sensors and clean the MAF and IAT sensors as well.

![]() For the kick problem i'ld take a look at the MAF and getting a K&N as others said. A good tune up with code reading.
Sorry if i cannot help you more ![]() For the stereo we must know which kind you should have. A mach 460 or not. Cause, as you an see, the haynes is very poor for infos. ![]() If you have the Mach 460. Here's what it's look like at the back of your radio/CD reader/front amp Here's the wiring from the middle of the car to the Radio and Front Amp. Top of the picture is for the mid-rear connecting. There's a two plug at this place. One is just hard to see but on the fourth picture, you'll see that it's really exist. ![]() Finally from the Back module to the middle of the car But don't worry. It still simple anyway. In fact 87 to 2000 is close to the same wiring. If you remove all the stuff i've showed. What you'll get from stock is the two male 8 pins connector. One for the power management (Power, ground, memory, dimming, etc) and the second one for the factory four speakers (one positive and one ground for each one. So 8 wires) As you can see on the fifth picture these plug are from my 88 which i added a mach 460. and the two plugs are those one close to the shifter Take a picture of what you have this will really help to solve the problem ![]() Last edited by White GT; 04-10-2004 at 10:49 PM.. |
