I saw an article about powerheads in fast fords and muscle mustangs about a year ago and those heads made awesome power, especially for the price. It was like over 30 something rear wheel horsepower AND torque, very impressive. I was thinking of going that route myself, but just like you i don't know of anyone who has gone with power heads.

hey 84, i went to there site and read up on it. i wish i could read that article from last year. i am really aiming for those heads. i want cast iron. they seem to take more abuse than aluminum. yeah they weigh more, but i will compensate for that weight in the front. i hope someone out there is using them and can tell me what they think of them. thanks 84

Have you considered getting Dart Windsor heads? They are great too, and give you more room for porting in the future, and are iron as well. Of course i think they are more money.

Don't overlook the Explorer P heads - they're iron GT-40 heads with improvements.
check //motorcitymustang.corral.net for LOTS of good "P" info. Either used or thru one of several suppliers they are very reasonable.

For the price of the Power heads you could find a set of Cast Iron Gt-40's (stock styleheaders will work) or get a set of GT40P's (need special headers) that will give you more room to grow in the future. I have seen sets of Cast Iron GT40's for $600 in the past, look around.

Just my $.02

Wink

I beleive the cast iron GT40's will flow close to if not more thenwhat the Power Heads do but, they (Gt40) can be ported, where as the Power Heads are maxed out, fully ported.

Hmm.. well if that's the case, then a set of GT-40's would be alright. The P's require different headers, so the cost will be higher with the headers. If you can find some used cast iron GT-40's, you'd be in good shape. Try in the 5.0 or MM&FF magz as they'd have the most current pricing on that stuff. Good luck!

Question

I haven't heard of Powerheads. Who makes them? What's the site address that may have some flow numbers?

go to www.powerheads.com, they have flow charts on the site and i think they have a flow comparison against World Products Windsor Jr. heads. As i recall the WP Windsor Jr. Heads flowed a little more on the intake side and a bit less on the exhaust side.
