I just bought my car Oct 10 2000 & never driven it, but a friend Has A 1990 LX with underdrive pulleys, bbk shorty headers, Mac 2.5" off road h- pipe, 3.55 gears, 14* of timing, lowering springs, & he has raced a ZR-1, Not to sucessfully though, he wants Heads, Cam & an intake to show those ZR-1's their place.
the easiest way to spank those Vettes is a blower, or nitrous (less work than installing Heads, Cam & Intake).
Hope you tell them where it's at!

Yeah...someday I would love to run with a ZR-1. I don't want to piss anybody off but I do love vette's. I was brought up around them, and have driven my dads......although my stang is faster than it, it is just a whole nother feeling driving one. I guess I just respect a good car.

One of my friends had a 91 ZR1 and those are pretty fast. His wan't stock though - it had some work done by Mallet. Iwas pretty cool though - even had a 6 point cage in it. He never ran it at the 1/4 but autocrossed it frequently. It was more than a rush than my car...

I used to be a vette freak, that is... until i went for a ride in a guy at my works 1990 5.0 lx hb with 3.55's pulleys...

the best run a STOCK zr-1 could run is 12.9,

but thankfully there are many stangs that put them in their place (hopefully i will when i get NOS, if not when i get my twin turbo kit).
Keep those vettes in the rearview mirror!

The only 'vette anyone should worry about is the one with a 427 between the shock towers. If you build it, they will run!

The ZR1 is fast, but the new Z06 is suppose to be even faster. I have seen several 5.0's that can keep up and even beat it, at least in the 1/4 mile. Beyond the 1/4 the I don't think there are many 5.0's that can catch it, it's supose to be able to go to the 200mph.

Pride in ownership is great guys, but lets wake up and smell the coffee. A STOCK Mustang has NO CHANCE against a stock, late model vette of any kind. A 1990 to 92 ZR1 has 375hp and runs high 12's, a 93 to 95 zr has 405 hp and is faster. A c5 has 355 hp and runs about 13 flat, a Z06 has 385 and runs mid 12's. Lets compare apples to apples. I dont know when the last time I saw a STOCK mustang run in the 14's and the sure the hell didnt run 13's or 12's. LETS TRY TO STAY OUT OF FANTASYLAND :-)

Okay, it's time to pull the Cranium from the Prosterior. No one said anything about a stock Mustang beating a late model ZR1.

I smell troll...

Don't let the one post troll get your panties in a bunch.....

ZR1's run about as quick as a lightly modded WS6.

Nothing special.

Don't forget that the parts on the vetts are made for higher proformance also. You put a set of heads on a mustang that flow as well as a ZR-1s you will notice a breathing difference. Then also price in working on it too is steep. They are nice but expensive!

Cool

Well I don't know about the 5.0's that have a hard time running 14's, but I know my stock 87GT can run 11's. Just ask the ricers who say they run 12's before I whoop up on 'em.

OH sorry for the misguided response. So your saying a MODIFIED mustang can run with a STOCK corvette, hmmmm that was pretty much my point too.

A ZR1 compared to a 5.0 is not much of a comparsion, its like comparing a VW to a porsche. A VW can beat a Porsche if modified, a 5.0 can beat the ZR1 if modified. So whats the point..
