![]() I own a Mazda RX-7 and I recently purchased a kit so that I can use a 5.0 instead of the stock engine. What my question is does anyone know where I can buy a 5.0 crate engine that is emmisions legal and gives good power for under $5,000? I really need to find out where because my rotary engine has no power and I am told that 5.0 has great power. Thanks

![]() For 5k, my friend got a 347 built with aluminum heads(trickflows)ported and installed, but it is not emmisions legal, i dont think anyway, plus it's carbed, since you might not know, a 347 is a 302 (5.0) with a stoked crank, as in more cubic inches-more power.
You can shop around, engine building shops sometimes have good deals, but you would be well off with an explorer p-head motor. |

![]() You may want a motor and trans straight from a wrecked GT or LX 5.0. This will give you all the little parts, the motor wire harness, computer MAF, sensors, T-5 trans etc you need for the swap. Heck, you may want the 8.8 rear etc as well. I had seen a 92 Saab 900 convertible that had the floor pan of a Mustang welded in along with a supercharged 302 and the mustang drivetrain. They used a wrecked GT for the parts donation

![]() even better than the motor from a wrecked GT or LX would be the 5.0 motor from a wrecked 1996-2001 ford explorer. get a cam, and a good exhaust you'll be set.
