Post Explorer rear in a fox body?

I have access to an entire 8.8 rearend out of an 98' explorer. It has posi and 3.73 gears now but I would swap in some 4.56's. I wouldnt be concerned about it but it has disc brakes. I have all the stuff to build my stang rearend but would love the disc brakes. I know I would have to swap mounting brackets but thats no big deal. Anything else that will need to be changed it will it work at all?

'93 lx notch 4 banger (drive it to work currently), Using the 306, 8.8 posi, 4.10's, summit rear cover, elec. fan, cowl hood, wieand stealth intake, holley 650 d.p.carb., built c-4, e-303, full autometer guages, msd box, mallory unilite dist, and coil, roll cage, summit seat, subs, 15x10's in the back with slicks, skinnies up front, all in use for 1988 Hatch Drag Car. Hope to start running next year. Hoping for 7.20's after all is done with small motor.

I was thinking about possibly going to manual brakes for weight conservation. IS this possible with 4 wheel discs? Also is the width different or the same or close enough?

What vehicle do I need to buy the master cylinder for? Do they make one specific to a stang?

hey pny, aree you going to use thee whole axle and put it in your stang? thee explorer axles aree wider than the fox body axles just to let you know. if you aree just going to take the goodies out of it, then use a Linolcn Mark 7 or a 94-95 GT master cylinder if you have the sn-95 conversion up front.

Question

Dumb ? Don't Explorers have leaf spring rather than coils? I think the suspension is setup similar to a Ranger.

Just my $.02

Yes explorers have leafs spring rearends. However It is not hard to make the rear fit with a 4 link or ladder ber setup Duh!I am more worried about brakes than I am it fitting in the car. I can make it fit I cant Flintstone brake it though. And the case is cst so it's not hard to weld to if i use a factory stype suspension and all I would have to do is mount the brackets. Any body know how much wider it is? WOuld this allow me to use a deeper offset or wider wheel?
