Question I want to Eliminate my A/C...

Hey everyone. I don't wanna completely take off my A/C pulley, But just buy a shorter belt and not use the A/C... Now I have a queston. What size is the stock one on right now. And what is the shorter one I should buy (how long)...I remember a while back someone posted the name of a website with that information and other Do-It-Yourself Modifications. If anyone knows the name of that website i'd greatly appreciate it.. Thanx in Advance! Talk to you guys later

IMO, it's not worth it to just switch belts to not have the a/c drain on the motor......you're not gonna see too much of a difference, that's why you might as well remove the entire system (brackets, hoses, compressor and all) and shed some extra pounds too. Otherwise, just leave it alone.

I agree. If you just remove the belt from the pulley but keep the system on you're not going to gain more than a couple ponies, if that. Most people remove the system because it will add more in weight savings than it will by just removing the pulley from the mix alone.

If your not running the AC when you race and I hope you are not, then there is really no drag caused by the pulley. It's turning freely. The extra weight 35-40 pounds might be slowing down just a few hundreds.

Why don't you keep the AC on, and just bypass the power steering pump. That's worth about a tenth sec reduction in 1/4 ET.
