![]() hi, today i have just picked up a new engine for my 1966 coupe. I ordered the engine, and i was expecting a 289 hipo, but i ended up getting a 302 H.O.. what is the difference between a 302 and a 302 HO? my old engine i had was a stock 302. this new 302 HO, has been bord i think .30 or .40, and i know the cam is a comp cam with .480 int and .520 ex!, i am going to carburate the engine ( holly 670 street adv system) but then agian i thought i was going to get a 289, i saved the stock parts from the old 302, so i can put it on the new one, parts like waterpump, headers, ignition system and some other parts.will they fit? i also was hopeeing sombody could tell me what the codes that i pulled off the block mean (D90E-6015-ESA)(8626) tell me also what things i have to do to make this 302 HO work on a stock mustang.thankyou bobby wade

![]() Where did you buy the engine? I think the difference between the 302 and 302HO is the year it was produced. Your parts should fit onto the new engine. The "D9" in the code means '79.

![]() Waterpump, ingnition, etc. will fit. I had a mid 70's block in my 69 and it now has a new ford crate motor. Everything fit just fine from the intake to the oil pan. As JW boner said there isn't much difference in the 302 and 302 HO.(if any)
