![]() If I put 245/55 15's on my stock "10 hole" wheels (1988 LX 5.0) will there be any clearance issues (front or rear)?? Does any have this set-up?

![]() Ran 245-60-15's mounted on 10 holes on the rear of my 87 for a couple of years without touching anything (Quads or fender lips) and nothing rubbed - could have probably gotten away with 255's. Never ran any thing larger than the stock 2-25's on the front though so I can't help you there.

![]() I have 265/50/15 on stock ten holes at the rear and they don't rub my pipes or the quads. Can't help you with the front though.
Hope this helps. ------------------ 1985 Mustang GT Cobra Mostly stock. Flowtech 1 5/8" lontubes, flowtech h-pipe, Flowmaster two chambers, Mac 2.5" tailpipes, MSD-6AL with Blaster coil, Weiand Stealth intake, Eibach springs, Monroe Formula GP's. |

![]() I had 235/60s on the front once, I had to remove them with next to no mileage on them. I had to sell them cheap.
I just noticed you said 55s, I can't help you there... but being wider I would think they would rub the inner fender wall... Hopefully someone has tried that and can help you... |

![]() Are 245/55/15's a very common size of tire?

![]() The tire size 235/55-15 are available but prob not very common.
rbatson: If the 235/60 -15 rubbed, I guess you went back to stock? It sound like you would have to go stock in the front and could put a bigger (wider) tire in the rear. Thanks |

![]() Yeah, I went back to stock and ran stock size all the way around, usually. I do have a set of McCrearys(on 10 holes) I put on the car sometimes(back) and they ever-so-lightly rubbed the quads with low air pressure.
Now I have 205/60/15s on draglites(15x6s)on the front and 265/50/15s on draglites(15x8s 51/2 bs) on the rear, I had to remove the quads for those to fit... thats all I had to do. I notice no wheelhop ![]() ![]() ------------------ Rick My 89lx(updated 2/21/2001) My 97 Cobra |

![]() If you take off the quad shocks and turn them around, will the McCrearys on the 10 holes still rub?
Also, why did you go with the 15x6 DragLites and not the 15x5's? Have you had any problem with the front brakes locking up easy with the skinnier tires? Are 15x3.5's too dangerous for a street car due to the reduced stopping power? Anyone here ever ran 3.5's on the street? |

![]() I wish I would have gotten the 15x5s, I have to use a spacer with the 15x6s to keep them from rubbing the brake caliper. I haven't had any other problems besides that though. I didn't want to get skinnies, this is a daily driver and I still wanted it to handle decently.
If I had turned the quads upside down I probably wouldn't have had any problem with the McCrearys rubbing. I replaced all the shocks, struts and quads before I got around to that. I turned the new quads upside down though. Now something that makes me feel stupid.. when I removed the new quads I had, they were not like the originals they were shocks, I noticed the quads had been rubbing the shocks!!! Once I took them off.. the car quit creeking so much when I go on inclines. Evidently they were binding... |
