Post High Revs/Shorter Life?

I saw a friend of mine on the road the other day driving his old Chevy truck with a bad*** 350 and decided to do a flyby. I talked to him later and he asked me what RPMs I was running when I passed and I told him it was around 5000. He said that if I keep reving my engine like that I would be rebuilding the lower end before the car had 50,000 miles. I explained that these DOHC engines like to rev and that he was wrong. But actually, it must have an impact on the longevity of the motor. The 4.6s haven't been around long enough to stand the test of time. But I will continue to drive the car like it was meant to be driven, and as long as I keep the revs below redline and change the Mobil 1 synthetic every 3000 miles the engine should last 150,000 miles. What do you guys think?
