Unhappy Tranny Problems

Hey Guys/Gals, New to the forum. I own a Green 96 GT...just recently got it and still stock (for now).

Anyway, I've have some troubles with my transmission (t-45 I think). I've having problems shifting into reverse. It feels fine going in, but as soon as I let the clutch out it pops back out of gear and grinds a little. This doesn't happen all the time, but enough to piss me off.

I done some web surfing and came up with this service bulletin

Technical Service Bulletins Summary

Make: FORD
Model: MUSTANG
Year: 1996
Service Bulletin Number: 01235
Bulletin Sequence Number: 630

Summary Description:

SOME VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE T45 MANUAL TRANSMISSION MAY EXHIBIT A CONDITION OF BEING STUCK IN REVERSE, DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR MAY POP OUT OF REVERSE. *TT

Ford must have realized there is a problem with the T-45, have any of who guys ever heard of this before? Any Suggestions?

Unfortunately, T-45 problems are quite frequent. A new one can be picked up for under 1k at D&D performance. Make sure your shifter stops are adjusted correctly if you have an aftermarket shifter though. You'd be suprised how often that is the problem.

Thanks for the advice.

It's just the stock shifter though. What gets me is it was fine last summer, I stored it over the winter and now that I have it back out it almost started right away.

I just changed the fluid and added some Moly Slip additive, it seems a little better(I think that's just high hopes), but I think I'm going to be into some Transmission problems.
