Default AOD Question

I have a 1990 LX 5.0 with an AOD in it a few months before I bought the car the tranny was gone through now the cable beteween the shifter and tranny is screwed up..when I hammer all the way back to 1st its in drive at the tranny and this follows
1=Drive
D=OD
OD=Nuetral
N=Nuetral ALSO
R=Reverse
P=Park
any ideas on how I adjust this cable...

There should be a bolt or nut on the tranny (or it MAY be on the underside of the shifter, cant remember). You will be able to loosen this and the linkage has a slot in it so it can be moved back and forth.

It should actually even have a wear mark on it from the original position of it that you can go off of to get it close to where it needs to be. Its pretty much a trial and error sort of thing.
