Question track times????

im having my car converted to a 5 speed tremic. i ran 14.75 with the stock aode tranny and before i got the 75mm mass air and the diablosport chip. Any predictions on times that i will run with the chip, maf meter, and the tremic installed i should be somewhere in the 13s but i want to hear your expert opinions. if not then ill have to change my username

Depends on your original mph and 60'. I say a 14.3.

Dont change your name... Just get the mods to get you there.

i figure that since i started with a 15.6 and my friends bone stock 95 5 speed convertible runs 14.9 that switching from auto to man is good for 7 tenths. the chip is good for a tenth or two and so is the pro m 75mm mass air mater ill be runnin 13.7 to 14.0

why dont you keep the aode in the car? beef it up and put in a stall and kick some 5spd @ss. 5 spds arent any faster than a nice aod or aode, plus they get really up set when a automatic mustang puts it on them

i was going to do excactly that so i got a lentech aode street terminator and a 10" torque converter with a 2800 rpm stall but within two days the valve body which was a custom $500 valve body was screwed up. so i said enough with the auto thing plus i enjoy the control of a 5 speed. did i mention the lentech was a top of the line $2600 tranny.

AOD 1st gear= 2.40
T5 1st gear= 3.35

AOD 2nd gear=1.84
T5 2nd=???? not sure but a lot more than an AOD

That is like saying your 3.73 car is slower than my 2.73 car w/ the exact same mods.....come on brotha....
I had 'em both, T5 and AOD......the only thing i would use an AOD for now is a boat anchor...or stock pile them to sell to people like you every other year.

"come on brotha" you can get a upgrade kit to increase 1st to 2.84 and second to 1.55, i have no problem beating 5 spd cars with similiar or more mods than i have. use your aod as a boat anchor and i'll use mine to beat you in the 1/4

Yup..it's the wide ratio kit from motorsport...$500 and cost about a grand to install. i had it...It still sucked and i had 3.73's and 2200 stall converter.
the car went 14.40's on sportsman pro's.
I kinda doubt you can go 13.40's on the motor
But giving you the benefit of the doubt...5-speed is still quicker.
I go 13.20's on motor.
I'm not trying to take anything away from anyones stang....i had a 90 GT w/ an AOD....went through 3 of them in 5 years..never went quicker than 14.40.
I just find it amusing that so many people try to talk everyone out their decision to do the swap. when in reality they probably never drove a T5..or they would switch too.
And to IBstanged...12.12 is pretty fast.
But you would be running easy 11's on a T5.
I go 12.50's on half the nitrous you do.
Another 75 hp would get in the ballpark of 11.80-11.90 and i don't have a $3000 trans.
People have a lot of one-sided opinions....
I have had both and i can tell you 5-speed rules.

I agree a 5 speed is quicker as you have a lot less hp loss to the rear wheels, and all in all is a lot simpler & cheaper to modify/rebuild. Although I have to admit you can't beat an auto for consistency at the strip.

NOS NOTCH- my friends 5 spd went 13.28 on the stock motor also. i had my tranny rebuilt localy and its been in the car for three years. i dont blame you doubting an aod can run 13.40s with a stock motor not many people can or do believe... you have to see it. a few of my friend with 5 spds actually like my tranny and have thought about going aod (but 5 spds feel so much faster when you slam them)

I say low 14's. It takes a lot to get these heavy convertible's to move more quickly down the track. Improve the exhaust; steeper gears and more traction would also help. Remove any extra weight.

so to TheSlowAod are you running 13.4's on slicks? (just wondering) what kind of tranny mods do you have? because my 91gt is an aod and i was just wondering if you were pulling 13.4's with the stock tranny and the stock stall?
thanks for answering my questions ahead of time if you do.

hey joey the 13.423 and 13.429 the car ran was on usa racing dirt track tires. they hook like a drag radial. the 60 ft was only 1.952 and 1.956. the tranny has a hughes 2600 stall in it (i think), shift kit, 1 piece input shaft, oil cooler and some other things, but i dont remember exactly what. a local shop built it for $1,700 and put it in. and where is hurst texas?? pm me and i'll give some advice with your car

Just to clear things up....I'm not against auto's.
I also agree that an auto is more consistent.
But i would and may choose a c-4 when my heads and stuff go on and i smoke my T5.
I enjoy a 5-speed more...My point is that why did ford gear the AOD so horribly??? and make it sooooo weak????
3 trannies in 5 years??? on a mid-14 car?? that is completely unnaceptable.
There is virtually no performance gap between the Z28's..auto or 6-speed(unless on slicks) and on the streeet i think i'd rather race a 6-speed..they launch too high all the time and spin.
I love mustang's....I hate AOD's
Ok...i'll shut up now ok.....
I will....you don't have to ask me again...
