If you want to save every ounce, you can take all of the insulation under the carpets and scrape all of the tar paper off the floor. That should be about 20 lbs. You can also remove the sound dedening under the rear kick panels covering the fender inside, and the front inner fenders. That should shave some unwanted pounds.

You can drop 70 lbs off the front by getting an aftermarket k-member, tubular a-arms, coil-overs and converting to manual steering.

I am at 2740lbs with a full tank of gas. Remove
Kicker shocks and brackets
Both bumpers, and brackets, (I have the rear, I pull a trailer)
Wind shield wiper resovior and all that other stuff under the fender, vacume canister, all emissions related stuff, sway bars, that big chunk of crap bolted to the rear end, right were the drive shaft hooks up, rear seat belt, assy all inside panels and insulation, alum heads, k-member, a arms, heater core, blower housing, Alum front seats, door panels, power locks, RIMS and tires, alum drive shaft, battery in rear, power steering pump, If I remember more I post it. I have a ground pounder coil over conv kit if you want it 18lbs off the front.

to answer your original question, if youtake out the heater core you won't do any damage to the car as long as you make sure to connect the hoses so coolant can still flow properly. The only thing that will change is it will be a little bit colder in there.

Default 88workcar-

88workcar- A few questions for you. I'm looking to further reduce my stang's wight as well.

What exactly is that..."that big chunk of crap bolted to the rear end, right were the drive shaft hooks up"?? That weight is not important to the driveshaft & rearend, nothing to do with balancing??
Also, do I have to remove my driver's side fender to get to that windshield wiper fluid resevoir out? Where is the pump/motor that feeds the fluid up to the windshield? Shouldn't I remove that also?

Thanks in advance-

That chunk of crap is to absorb harmonics. I wonder why it don't absorb exhast harmonics, they come out the pipe right in front of it You have to pull the fender liners out, oh yea, throw them away too.

Drink more water exercise and eat right.

Seriously my buddy was looking at removing weight and we relized he could drop more off of his body than off of his stripped car.

he was seriously overweight though so no offence taken but tink about it dropping 20 lbs off of the driver how about 160 lbs

I'm 5'7" 145 just a little guy but my friend is 6'2" and about 400 lbs

so when i drive his car its like a 255lbs reduction.

but rememer everything counts I remove my rear view not for weight but so i can see better.

also i like to use the heater as a mini rad on the return road i crank the heat up.

You only have to loosen up the dash. The only thing I had to do was, route the water lines differant. There will be no ill effects other than you will have to wipe the windshield your self. I did not have power windows, but did have power locks. I got rid of all elec. on the doors it un plugs inside the car. I have to put the last alum panel on. I like them the look cool.
