![]() Anybody know what the total intake height of a 429 SCJ intake is? Im thinking of switching over to aluminum but I dont want to mess up the height and the ram air seal. Thanks

![]() The 429 SCJ only came with an aluminum intake (part # DOOZ9424B). I'm not sure of it's height, though.
Take care, ~Chris

![]() The only aluminum intake Ford made for a 429SCJ was a Shelby unit. All CJ/SCJ's were cast iron & are the same height.

![]() According to Ford, all 429's received a cast intake, part #DOVY9424A, except the CJ/SCJ, the Police Engine, and the Boss 429.
The CJ and the '69/'70 Police Engine had an aluminum intake, part #DOOZ9424C. The SCJ and the Boss both had the same aluminum intake, part #DOOZ9424B. Of course, Ford could be wrong. ![]() Take care, ~Chris

![]() Something is really wrong. A Boss intake is a mile away from a CJ/SCJ. I just sold my Boss 429 engine but still have some 429SCJ intakes. The CJ had a rochester quadrajet, & the SCJ had a 735 CFM Holley. I've seen the Ford books wrong so many times... They even try to say the shock towers on a '65 are the same as a '73. I can post an SCJ intake pic if it helps. BTW the standard 429/460 had 2.00" X 2.30"ports, the CJ/SCJ had 2.23" X 2.60" ports, & the Boss had 2.48" round ports. Hope this helps to clear this up.

![]() Well I dont know about what FORD or books say but my intake is a cast iron one with all the stock stuff bolted to it. I am no expert but so far I have'nt read anything that says that all SCJs came with aluminum intakes. There seems to be a lot of inconsistant info on the 71 and up cars. Either way for now I've decided to stick with the stock one and just add the K&N filter and top, untill a show comes up. Now if I can just find a good set of headers that dont require cutting anything on the car I will be really happy. FOR SALE -- Hooker headers that require you to cut up a really nice car.. CHEAP

![]() Well I ended up putting on the stocker with a new paint job and rebuilt the carb. Added the K&N and filter top anodized blue, looks great with the ram air. On to the headers. The Hooker site said the 6115s had 1 7/8 primaries, so im not sure they would work out with the CJ/ SCJ heads. If they do fit let me know would ya. Thanks
