Default which cam to choose??

I'm finally gonna get some stuff I've had sitting in my basement for a year on my car....but i wanna buy a cam to put in while im doing it. Heres whats going on: Crane 1.7 roller rockers, gt40p heads, and headers...i still have the stock intake and everything else is stock as can be.

now my question is what would work better? should i get an e303 cam or this lunati cam?

duration - adv in/exh: 281/281 @.050 in/exh 220/220
Lift - .512/.512
Lobe seperation 106/110
Opens/closes @.050 04°BTC 44°ABC /36°BBC -04°ATC

Lunati makes great cams. The E-303 cam is at least a 12-15 year old design. Cam profiles for the 5.0 have come a long way since then. The one advantage the E cam has is price, but it is dated. If the Lunati cam had a lobe seperation of 114 then it would be ideal for your application considering the mostly stock configuration. I would change out the valve springs if you have more than 50k on the engine as the added lift from the cam and 1.7 rockers would overtax the stock springs and could lead to premature valve float as the lift would be .544 with the 1.7 rockers, that is a lot of lift for the stock springs to handle.

hmm....i bought the heads used and the guy i bought them from did say that he put new spings on the heads, maybe its time to go ask him about those springs that he put on

If the heads are not installed on the engine yet, go ahead and take them to a reputable machine shop, preferably one that deals mostly in H.Perf engines and have the springs tested and they can tell you if they are up to snuff for the cam you choose to run. A good set of springs for either of the 2 cams you are looking at should only cost $100.00 or less. If you can install them yourself then it will not cost you anymore than just parts. Cheap insurance compared to the cost of rebuilding the engine.

Springs are easy to install... I got a spring compressor from sears for 15 bucks... the rest, is squishing them and taking out the locks and then reversing the process. It's very easy if the heads are off the car.
