![]() hey all..I had some bbk equal length headers installed a while ago and now the gaskets started leaking so i replaced them with the copper ones and i installed stage 8 locking header bolts but for some reason i still hear a exhaust leak when i step on the gas. Is it just me or is that somewhat normal? I don't recall hearing it before. should those bolts be torqed down and if so how much and how? i can only get to the first couple ones then i have to use a box wrench because of the equal length. thanks guys...

![]() Ive always had a problem with my equal length shorties leaking. And ive always had a problem with the pass side shorty hitting the shock tower. Thats why i just bought a set of bbk longtubes.

![]() Were the gasket surfaces clean when you replaced the gaskets?
Also, check to make sure its not leaking at the collector instead. An easy way to check for leaks is to let the car cool down completely, then start it and immediately use your hand to hover around where you think the leak is coming from. You'll feel it blowing on you, and if you do it fast enough, the exhaust tubing wont heat up enough to burn you. good luck

![]() Copper gaskets suck. They are notorious for leaks if you don't get them fitted just right. Pick up some of the Fel-Pro gaskets, p/n FPP-1415 - $16.95.
I have never heard anything but problems from locking header bolts either, but to each his own.
