Another stupid question

I have been running my car for the last 2 weeks on reguler unleaded, and usually run premium. A couple of times I have passed and when I really pushed the car it sounded really rattly, like your shaking a can of spray paint. Also, I need a tune up. Is this sound because the car is used to the good stuff, because it needs a good tuning or both?

Sounds like the classic case of pinging. What is your timing set at? You can do one of two things to rectifiy the situation:

1) Reduce your timing back to stock (10* BTDC); or

2) Use a higher grade gasoline (92, 93, 0or 94 octane).
