I need some help getting panels completely smooth. Right now I am working on my brothers 74 camaro, kinda practice for when i do my mustang, haha. We have been sanding with wood blocks, then when we think that they are smooth, we have been putting primer on. Well, for the most part you see, when the light hits it right, where the filler is. I was wondering if anybody has any good tips, or knows of a good place that I can go for body work information. Thanks anybody

what you want to do is use a guide coat to let you know where the high and low spots are. what you do is lay down your primer coat(lets say grey), then you lay down a thincoat of a contrating color, in this case black, and you sand untill you see spots of black on the grey. these are your low spots, and you can then either add a little body filler, if the spots are fairly shallow, work the base metal some more, if the spots are deep, or add more primer-filler, if the spots are real shallow. sand again using the guide coat. repeat the process untill the guide coat comes off evenly.
