Default Carb spacer Q`s

I`m looking into getting a carb spacer for the Mach, and not sure what the differences are. Aluminum, wood fiber or plastic from the Summit catalog.I need one that will be as thin as possible yet keep the carb cool. Not sure if it matters but i`ve got a performer intake and 4v holley carb. Thanks for any info
