Default Pulley Problem

yo i see you got a fox body..i got an 87 gt that is havin pulley problem...i was wonder what the pulley is underneath the alternator....because it just ceased up on me and my buddy seems to think that you can get a shorter belt and cut whatever the pulley is out of the equation....if you can help me that would be greatly appreciated

Should be the smog pump pulley, you ca by pass it if you have an off-raod pipe ( no catylitic convertors) If you don't have an off road pipe, you have to keep it or fix it before driving it, the cats will clog and overheat and cause problems for the engine.
