				 | I want to Eliminate my A/C... Hey everyone. I don't wanna completely take off my A/C pulley, But just buy a shorter belt and not use the A/C... Now I have a queston. What size is the stock one on right now. And what is the shorter one I should buy (how long)...I remember a while back someone posted the name of a website with that information and other Do-It-Yourself Modifications. If anyone knows the name of that website i'd greatly appreciate it.. Thanx in Advance! Talk to you guys later ------------------ 90 LX 5.0 AOD 3.73 Gears, Removed Air Silencer, more mods to come... |

				 | IMO, it's not worth it to just switch belts to not have the a/c drain on the motor......you're not gonna see too much of a difference, that's why you might as well remove the entire system (brackets, hoses, compressor and all) and shed some extra pounds too. Otherwise, just leave it alone. ------------------ '90 LX 5.0;12K original miles;FMS 3.55 gears; March pulleys;Edelbrock Performer Heads;BBK 1 5/8" equal length shorties;MSD 6AL ignition w/ blaster 2 coil;FMS E303 cam;Pro-M 75mm MAF;BBK 70mm TB; Eibach drag-launch spring kit;Southside weld-on subs;9" K&N cone filter charger;Hurst shifter;Cervini 3" turbo hood;A/C delete;gutted cats;2 chamber Flomasters;Corbeau racing seats;FMS 30# injectors;JMS custom chip;Holley 190lb fp;TFS track heat intake (12.299 @ 113mph w/ a 1.78 60') ....soon to be b |

				 | I agree. If you just remove the belt from the pulley but keep the system on you're not going to gain more than a couple ponies, if that. Most people remove the system because it will add more in weight savings than it will by just removing the pulley from the mix alone. ------------------ Gunning for 12's! | If your not running the AC when you race and I hope you are not, then there is really no drag caused by the pulley. It's turning freely. The extra weight 35-40 pounds might be slowing down just a few hundreds. Why don't you keep the AC on, and just bypass the power steering pump. That's worth about a tenth sec reduction in 1/4 ET. ------------------ '93 GT Conv. TFS Twisted Wedge Heads, Cobra Intake, Lunati Cam, 24lb inj.,Pro-M 80 mm MAF 12.80 @ 108.13 mph w/1.80sec 60ft |
