Post Found a car, what's it worth?

It appears to be a '67 GTA Fastback. I haven't talked to the guy about it yet because I don't know anything about these older 'stangs. I managed to get a couple of pictures, but they didn't turn out extremely well.
Pic of the car

Automatic tranny and the engine is a 289, (the valve covers said "COBRA" if that means anything).
Engine pic.

It appears to be in fairly good condition, but I really don't know a thing about these cars except they look great. Thanks

It's die-stamped on the top upper flange of the left front fender apron (under the hood).

Take care

Cobra on the valve covers means they are not stock. Were there other "mods"??
As far as value, check for comperable cars on the web, like at the classified section of vintage mustang forum. Fastbacks have been going for a premium ever since Gone in 60 seconds.
To me the biggest factor driving costs is rust. Be sure to check the floor pans, trunk, bottom of door, fenders and quarter panels, and most of all do the water test on the cowl. Good luck.

Aren't '67 GTA's always 390's?

Oops, my error, the "A" just means it's a GT with an automatic.

One of the keys is deciphering the VIN. Buy a book with a decorder in it and take it with you. I think if it's a true GTA the fifth digit will be a K. Sometimes these are not true GT cars. People have just painted them up to look like one.

67 GTA's were avaliable with either the A or K code (HiPo) 289's or the S code 390's the fifth digit in the VIN will be the engine code. A codes were the most common, S codes second most common and the K codes by far the rarest, with only 472 of them made.
