First time drag racing
Went out racing for the first time (I'm 17) in my 90LX Convert. AOD. I went with the Northern Virginia Mustang club, and of course had the slowest car there (I have lakewood control arms and FMS springs). My first run, first time racing and first time driving in two months!, I got a 15.47@89.94 with a 2.370 60'. I was extatic! By the end of the day, my best was 15.277@92.25 with 2.27 60'. I weighed the car also and it was 3615 lbs with me (145 lbs). Just wanted to know what you guys thought, does that sound good? I should have gotten one of the experienced guys there to try and drive.

Yeah man that sounds pretty good to me. That is all you can expect a stock fox body vert to run. Stock verts usually run very low 15's or a high 14. You never should have drag raced man now your hooked all your money will be dumped into the need for speed. Welcome to the club.

Cool! I know what you mean about putting money into it, first thing I have to do is get rid of this dirty automatic, just that will put me into 14s easily.

dinomite,
Hey, good job on your first pass. I went for the first time on 4/24 and my first pass was a gagging, horendous, pukey 15.999. I went back nine more times for a best of 15.11@92mph. I don't know about you but I definitely have the horsepower bug! I am getting rid of the 2.73's and am going to get the posi working today. Have fun!!! ------------------ '91 LX 'vert, T-5, ported/polished/milled .030 stock heads, 1.6rr, double valve springs, 1.94/1.60 stainless valves, March Performance pulleys, A/C eliminator, electric fans, K&N, short belt, glasspacks w/dumps |
