Talking Finally!!!......

I finally got the parts for my 90 lx AOD to T-5 swap and it was all for a good price. I do have some silly questions...being a newbie and all. I was reading a list of parts I needed and saw T-5 backup harness and Neutral safety switch. Basically I got all that I thought I needed from some guys mustang. I pulled some wires but I dunno if they are the barckup harness and nuetral safety switch. The wires I pulled were dangling by the tranny and not plugged in. Oh well, anyone got any idea what these wires are? Hopefully I'll have the T-5 in my car by the end of December.... to many finals right now to worry about workin on my car.... anyways, thanks and peace!

The harenss will go through the trans tunnel and under the drivers set over to the driver side kick panel. It just plugs in there and at the trans.

Hello, Quick question. there seems to be a wire harness that comes outta the T-5's I see in pics. The T-5 I purchased doesn't have this harness. Can anyone tell me what it is? I have an example pic of a T-5 with the wire. thanks

I'm not exactly sure what it is either. I did the swap with my car a couple summers ago, and I think i just left in hanging

The wire that you need to use has a plug that goes on the 2 prongs on the drivers side of the tranny, and the other 2 wires in the harness are "jumped" together. That was the neutral safety switch from the AOD i believe

you don't need that sensor on the top. From the inside it looks like it will determine when the tranny is in neutral, which you don't need. When I did my rebuild that harness was not plugged in and it was damaged so I just took it right out and plugged the hole.

I think you could tap into this switch if you wanted to install a remote starter. This way the car won't do a kangaroo hop across the parking lot if left in gear.

The harness on the side is the reverse switch and you need it if you want reverse lights.

The backup light harness I got. One of the two metal sleeves on the inside of the female end of the plug is popped out a bit. But I think it will be fine after I pop it back in. As for 'jumping' what used to be the nuetral safety switch on the aod.... what do i have to do exactly? do i have to plug it into anything? Thanks alot guys.

I don't know exactly what you have to do but basically you are tricking the computer into thinking your aod is in neutral or park so that you can start it.

you shouldn't have to plug it into anything. I would think you just have to close the circuit, fake what the actual switch on your aod does when it is in neutral

one of the harneses from the AOD has 4 wires. 2 for the neutral safety switch (or maybe park) and 2 for the backup lights.

The 2 for the safety switch should be looped right back around (completing the circuit) in the t-5 harness that you got. The other 2 wires will go to a plug that goes on the 2 prongs sticking out of the tranny.
