'99+ GTs Won't Race me!?
Whassup with these guys? Man! When I'm in the '79, I've gotten up next to a handful of 99+ GTs and none of these punks have the guts to run me. Never had a problem getting a race with '79-93 stangs, but these 99+ guys all act like they're scared (or maybe just snobby-- actually, I've noticed that with teh newer GTs, a lot of people who really know nothing about Mustangs have them. They just think they're pretty cars and "Oooh, what a pretty car, I guess I'll buy one". USUALLY a different story with Cobra owners, but not all the time. I just had another encounter with a 99+ GT. Perfect light, perfect stretch, very low cop area. I figured I'm sick of this and had to take the time to vent here at my online home. Anyway, that was my whole point. I guess I really ain't got nothing else to say. Okay. Later.

99+ GT's are a joke where I live. Noone has done better than a 14.50 stock. Alot of guys are running 15's
The last good stang was made in 93 as far as I am concerned.

It seems like most people won't race these days regardless of what they're in. Probably smart of them I guess. I'd race ya, but you're kind of far away.
Dark - Is the track just nasty where you live or what? I ran 14.2 with a shitty 2.3 60-ft in mine when it was bone stock and I was still learning to launch it.

The altitude density of the air varies from 4000-6800FT and I live in a hot and dry desert climate and the track sucks.
I am glad I live 15 minutes from a 1/4 mile track but this track is far from ideal. 90% of LS1's dont break outta the 14's stock where I live.

There are people running deep in the 12s with bolt-on N/A 99+ GTs. Just look at Mustang92 - he's still running the stock longblock.

I guess you guys need reminders of how quick the 99+ GTs are.
They are the fastest stangs produced by Ford in factory form. I had a 2000 - it ran 13.662 BONE STOCK. I have a 2002 - it ran a 13.773 with everything stock... from factory tires to factory plugs. Foxbodies are cool, but they usually back down around here. There's a guy in the region here running his foxbody in the 12s with a stock 5.0. To clarify the engine is completely stock, he has gears and full traction setup (suspension/tires). Runs 12.9 at 101 with 1.7 60ft. pretty impressive...

Every track I have ever been to 5.0's and LS1's are king.
You are obviously dealing with some much better air than I am cause the best trap speed stock I have seen is 97 mph out of a 99+ GT. There is a 99 cobra that runs good out here but he is the only one. He runs a 12.40 @107 on a untouched engine. With a solid axle with 4.10 gears , slicks and suspension. He pulls a 1.40 60ft. My cobra runs 14.0's more times than not. The air here is bad..

Ls1s are definately king. They run low13s out of the box with a good driver.
Stock for stock, 5.0s will be slower than 99+ 4.6 with equal drivers. Now the real question is how many stock 5.0s are left after 10years of production? Specially with unbeatable after market part pricing. I'll be the first to admit, at the track, the odds of seeing stupid fast stangs will always go for 5.0.

There is a guy down here with an 03 gt, 4.30 gears, e.t. streets, subframes, removed swaybars, a few little boltons went 12.98 103, 1.75 60' he drives it well, that was leaving the line at 6k he said.

I just think it's an effort issue. My car is in the mid 12's NA with all the bolt ons and there are another 3 guys locally that are all low 13's and soon to be high 12's with basic bolts on and slicks/DRs. This all in south Florida home to the 2200' adjusted sea level...
