well yes and no. A K&N on a stock 5.0 is worth 1 maybe 2hp. On the other hand you will never have to buy another filter again(just keep that one oiled good).
BTW, if you haven't already, yank the air intake silencer out. It's free and worth 3-8hp

It's not a waste. And the more mods you do, the K&N will compliment them.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Mustang modification. No your not gonna feel a big difference with a K&N, but as was said before it helps. Makes the airflow a little more efficient and will continue to help your car breathe with the mods you'll do in the future. Don't beleive all the adds claiming big horsepower from little mods, like the air filter. If people got the hp claimed by those little adds everyone with pulleys a K&N, spark plugs and wires, cold air kits and conical filters would be pumping out 300 hp. Every little bit helps, but your not gonna get 50 hp from a $50 investment. Do your research and remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Happiness is a warm K&N
dellrex:
Welcome to Mustang Works. The K&N is a great investment for all the reasons already listed (better filtering and long life) but as effective a filter that it is, you won't feel the 1 or 2 HP it adds. Most minor mods like new plugs, plug wires, filters and such are good things to do for your engine but don't add much - if any - HP. Advancing the ignition timing to 14 degrees or so will add another 1 HP but you'll notice the 'snap' in response when you step on the gas...and it's free! Next: Rear Gears; a mod you'll very definitely notice immediately, even though they add zero horsepower. It's all good. |

You mean you didnt get 50hp from that
j/k THe one nice thing is you can use this filter for years. Just go easy on the oiling, thats the #1 cause of MAF sensor contamination.
