Default Cobra Intake problem

I just put on a new Cobra intake on my 90 essentially stock motor. Nothing else was added but the intake. Well, it runs pretty well, but there is a noticable bog when you first start out. Used to be i could nail it in first on a rolling start and it would have perfect acceleration. Now, it bogs and then takes off; but even when it takes off, it does not seem to have the same torque that it did before when it was fully stock. Is that because it needs a bigger throttle body to let more air in? Idle is perfect and runs great at constant highway speed. thanks

The cobra intake is actually a very good intake for low end torque so it should not make your car bog.

Go back over all the basics. If you pulled the distributor to remove the intake make sure the timing is set where it is supposed to be. Also check your TPS voltage.

Actually, even though the cobra is a good intake, it is not as good for low-mid range power )idle~3,500 rpm) as the stock intake. I am not surprised at all that you noticed the loss, but the bog is not normal and indicates you have a problem to find. Once corrected, some of the loss you feel may come back.

thanks. Buddy of mine thought a new chip reprogrammed to add more fuel at lower rpm might work.

Don't waste your money on a chip right now, it's not the issue and it is rather expensive.

Back when I had a stockish motor with an explorer intake which is basicly the same thing as a cobra intake I didnt notice any negatives just positives.

By changing only the intake. I went from a stock intake to an explorer intake and went from a 14.79 @93mph to a 14.46 @95mph.

The bog/loss of low end torque is not intake related IMO.
