Clogged oil pump pickup
I just put a '91 motor in my son's four cylinder 87LX. It ran for 5 minutes and then lost all oil pressure. I told a guy at work about it and he said "That's not the motor with the dual plug head is it?" I said "yeah". He then told me he know of two other guys with the same motor that had the same problem. They said their oil pump pickups were clogged with the no gasket sealer they put on at the factory. We pulled the oil pan and found exactly that. Has any one else heard of this or had this problem? Can I get some kind of reimbursement from Ford?

Heard of it but don't know about any reimbursments from Ford at this late date.
Check with a dealer and call the Ford customer service number to see what they have to tell you. Don't expect too much. |
