Footwell Carpeting Curling In
While I was cleaning out my interior yesterday I noticed that the carpeting in the footwells is curling in. Not only does this not look so good, but it catches my feet when I'm working the pedals.
I made a quick attempt to fix it with double sided foam tape, but it didn't stick to the backing on the carpet at all. Has anyone else had this problem, and has anyone fixed it? Thanks for the help! |

Re: Footwell Carpeting Curling In
I was recently helping my son install new carpet in his beater Honda. The carpet was suppossed to be pre-molded. Portions didn't fit right so I called the company up that made the carpet and they said to use a heat gun on the bottom side of the carpet then roll a partially de-flated basketball over the area. Worked like a charm.

Re: Footwell Carpeting Curling In
Wow, that's great! Did the carpet have any kind of adhesive backing on it? The carpet in my footwell is mainly retained by large velcro patches that are firmly attached to the back of the carpet and the footwell; this is the factory setup. The issue is the velcro patch isn't at the edge of the carpet, so the carpet is curling up to the point where the velcro is...

You made need to experiment with some different types of adhesives. I have had good success with a product called Shoe Goo. I have sealed leaking windows to covering soldered sterio wires instead of using heat shrink. This stuff dries harder than RTV and comes in clear or black
