Default Some kills in the '86 GT last night :)

Out cruszin last night in the stang when i get a light with a 5 OHHH coupe. Light changes..i tear out of there and he does nothing Then i get a light with a new 911 TT and a late 80' conquest w/ custom yellow paint (RWD version). Light changes and i have a great lanuch, but the Porsche doesn't go, and the Conquest is fryin the tires. I run through 4 gears and have the Conquest by many lenghts, and then he does the fly by

On the way home i get 2 lights with a '95 GT with 30 day tags. We kick it from the start and i have a car in first, nail 2nd and wheel hop. Pull some more, and shut down at the top of 3rd with about 3.5 cars on him. Next light same results. It was a good time though, the '86 got some good kills in

It ran a 14.03 @ 97.55 and a 14.07 @ 97.88 last week so i think its got a 13 in it when i can get rid of this wheel hop

Question what mods do you have?

Good kills, i'm just curious what mods do you have on your '86? I don't see any mod list in your sig but i thought 5.0's stock ran high 14's? anyways just thought i'd ask cause those are some impressive numbers if it is stock.

EZRIDN-
What mods are done to your '86? Any mods to help your traction problem yet? I have a '90GT and run Lakewood traction bars (slapper bars) and they definitely help out. They bolt onto the rearend, although I had to end up tack welding the bars to the rearend to keep them from moving on hard launches with the slicks.

Take off your turbo and see what it takes to run high 12's.

No, all of those mod's to go 11.6's reread his sig! Off the bottle it does 12.8's.

As for the mods vs time it is normal for a 5L to need H/C/I/E to get into the 12's

The '86 has 3.73's, x pipe, flows, pullies, elec. fan, shifter, drag suspension (that made it wheel hop), Cobra intake, TB, Cold air, on street tires. Stock long block

20lbs....give the Simi Stang a break...an 11.6 is far quicker than a 12.93. But you knew that already, so why did i even have to say it I have been on this board for a long time, and have seen ones like you come and go with the smart comments. I'd like to have you around if you can keep it cool.

Anyways, Sedanman had the same problems i have with the suspension, i think i will have to switch the uppers/lowers out

Hey it's all good. Nothing derogatory meant by any posts but I was taken back by all the add-ons needed to get low #'s. It is what it is, nothing more and nothing less.

As far as the NAWZ goes, the guys on my TTA list are saying a 100 shot puts an original, unmodified TTA (w/drag radials of course) into the high 11's. I guess a few guys did it. Typically NOS and turbo engines don't mix well.

20lbs.,....NX has the intercooler kit...ever thought of that? I have seen some turbo import guys runnin' it with some results.

The H/C/I add ons are proven, and may seem like a lot of mods. On the other hand, you could take a stock 87ish GT (I ran 14.4s @ 97 last August in south florida with a bone stock 215K 87 GT on radials) on slicks and a 150 shot and make it a 12 sec. car with very very little mods. Those power adders can really help reduce E.T., and all the while you would not have a large number of parts to change, like you car.

20lbs - just curious, how much was the sticker price on your 1989 PAS Turbo T/A #1233 of 1550?

I am pretty sure it was considerably more than a 1989 GT/LX 5.0, and I bet it is still more after you add about $3500 for H/C/I, exhaust, etc. To me, it doesn't really matter what it runs stock, it really matters how much total $ you have to spend to be safe+fast+reliable.

Not trying to be a jerk, I just don't think your remark that "all those mods, just to get into the 12's" is very valid.

Nope. Never considered NOS on my car though as I indicated some guys toyed with it. Something about a fogger nozzle mounted on the inlet pipe.

The TTA stickered for $30,784 in 1989 which equates to somewhere around $50,000 in today's dollars. I didn't make enough $ at the time, nor would I have been fool enough to spend that much in the 1st place. You can find a nice low mileage example today for around $15,000. Or if you can spare having a few miles on it you can get'em somewhat cheaper. Not a bad deal for a rare car that runs like a raped ape, handles like a Porsche and the mileage of a Mustang.
