How about a member map?
I guess this question would really be for Dan, but if we show enough interest then maybe he'll buy in. I don't want to take credit for this idea since someone already came up with the idea but I would like to add to it. How about a map showing where all the members are located or at least how many members are in each location. Maybe another forum or something. Also, maybe a section for pics of the users so we can put a face to the name. Just a suggestion. Later!

I also think that would be a great idea. We could then use the map to meat other mustangers or find out where the best strips/streets are for racing. Plus it would just be cool

Sounds like a great idea to me!
It is a trip to see a photo of someone that you have been corresponding with for a long time. They usually don't look anything like what you thought they would. It would also be nice to meet other local members to talk/work on the cars, cruise or go to the track with. Count me in! ------------------ 91 Coupe with fresh rebuild. i'd love to mett up with some locals from this board..ya know, race a little, talk a litle sh!t, get a beer, whatever..i dont have any mustang buddies around here, and you dont love your mustang you just dont understand.. not to mention the fact that i live in a condo and have no tools but would love to do my own work on my car..(i.e. a fellow mustanger from the site with a driveway and a toolbox ...i like that map idea..for the big states you could even break it down into sections and show the member id's in the state as opposed to just the total number of people in that given state..damn good idea ------------------ stock aod (only mod is the .38 with hollows on the passenger seat for the jackers) waiting for relatives to die for money for mods... |

How about a US map where you can click on the state and get all the members in that state with their city and user's ride link?

I guess the only problem with that is that with 10,000+ members, the map would be basically 1 big dot.
But you can search for members by location now. |

sounds like a good idea, how about a state by state listing, that way you could just click on the state and see who is in that area, would have to include canada and maybe other places to cause we have members from all over i have seen.

I am interested in it for all the reasons you guys specified. I like the idea of seeing who I've been chatting with back and forth and also to see the local riders around my area. I started a Maryland area mustang club on Yahoo that I am going to try to bring to a larger level, like an actual physical club. I don't know of any around here. It would be cool to be the one to start one up and this map/forum/locator would help a lot.

There use to be a map on the older Thrifty Nickle site that was broken into states. You click on the state and it pulls up a larger view of that state. Then, within each state map, there were major cities shown with a dot. You click on the city you are interested in and it gives you the readings for that area.
A similar map could be used here. Members pick their state from the map; then they pick the major city nearest them, and it pulls up a member list and or location with contact info for members in that area. --nathan |

I agree, these are all neat ideas, What about including in the area, Address's, phone numbers, and Links to Local track information. Also what about a member search area, like those things were you enter in your Zip code, and then you tell it how far you want to search in miles and it pulls up all of the information. Like if I entered my Zip code, then a 30 mile radius, it would pull up all the members, tracks, etc. in a 30 mile radius

So what do you think, Dan? Is it feasible? If so, I for one think it would be great.
