![]() Just insalled a SPEC sage 1 clutch. After instaling it, i feel horrid vibraions through the shifter between 2500 and 3000 rpm. with the trans in neutral, i rev the engine and i can feel a little vibrtion as it passes the same rpm. The clutch works fine mechanically except for the vibration. Everything was fine before i put in the new clutch. I installed the previous clutch with no problems. i replaced everything but the pilot bearing because it was replaced last time and it wasnt that long ago. I also had th flywheel resurfaced by a local O'reillys.

![]() I once had a clutch cover that was missing a balance wight that acted very simular. Does it act the same way with or without the pedal depressed?

![]() Adam, I think I would make sure your exhaust isnt hitting anywhere causing this vibration and take a good look at the rotating clutch components. Assuming the pilot bearing is there and in good shape and the clutch plate is properly mounted to the flywheel and transmission tight on both ends, I'd consider pulling the clutch backout.

![]() another thing you might want to consider is when you had your flywheel turned, was the machine true? I worked at oreilly's for about a year and a half and the machine we had was not perfectly true, so i would assume that a out of balance flywheel will cause this type of vibration

![]() briand has a good point. Sounds like a possible flywheel problem.
I replaced my flywheel with a new one when I did my clutch replacement. Eliminates the vibration problem and no worries about a cracked flywheel, either. I have a near-stock 5.0 , have only had to do one clutch replacement since I've owned the car and I could go with the stock-quality iron flywheel for $100. so it was worth it. A steel flywheel is $225. If you do frequent clutch replacements on a high HP Mustang this may not always be practical. Good insurance, though.. |

![]() I would also check the front end. If the rubber seals on the vibration damper are worn or out of place it may be time to replace that also. Its worth checking at least.
