Default My wife called out a ricer (and it was her cousin)

Well we were out with her whole family sunday (parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins) and went out to lunch. All of her younger cousins are into the ricer fad but they are all still cool. When lunch was over we were all talking in the parking lot and looking at here younger cousins new Civic. They were talking and the older cousin said that he should get some ground effects, rims, seats, and a wing. I was just standing there holding my tounge at this point when my wife says "(sarcasim) whats all that going to do put you in the 10's?" I have never been so proud.

that always strikes me funny, cause when i talk to our local import guys...........i hear people talking about adjusting sway bars and shock settings to achieve desired handling characteristics, and air pressures they run at the strip and the autocross, and helping someone solve their boost spike, and launching techniques, and whether to run a 3 inch or 2 and a half inch exhaust, and blow-off valves that release into the atmosphere versuses BOV's that release into the intake........

the real import guys most likely aren't the guys chillin' at the sonic or the gas station or the car wash.........the real import guys are in their garage, or online tryin' to solve their boost leak issues, or in an office somewhere tryin' to earn a living

i can't comprehend your logic, mr. 4nitrous.......if you drive an import, you work in fast food?

what i'm saying is that if there is such a thing as an "import guy", he isn't the punk kid buzzing around the streets and parking lots.......the "import enthusiasts" that i know and have met only gather together for autocrosses, at the dragstrip, or at an SCCA club meeting, or brand/model specific club meeting (be it honda, or volkswagen, or subaru, miata, vr4, etc.).........from my experiences 85% of the "enthusiasts" are over 25, prolly 75% have professional jobs, and 75% have no visual mods other than rims (which are typically lighter, wider, and house more performance-oriented rubber).......also, most of them do the mods themselves

i know a few "import enthusiasts" and respect their knowledge of the imports and how to make power or corner carvers out of them.

ricers on the other hand come in domestic and import version. which is what this thread was started about. people that are more concerned with their "vision of speed on wheels" rather than actually making it go fast.

the 1st group i can get along with the latter i just mind my own business unless they ask my opinion in which case they will get it!

Cbring

I don't understand you most of the time. ultraflo has talked about the import guys that live near him before a number of times. They don't sound like the typical 'ricer' until he tries to get them down to the track and they spend all night bench racing at some restaurant.

Ease up on the 'everyone is out to get me' mentality you have or move along. Not every comment made about a VW or import car is a direct threat to your manhood.

They are tweaking away in their garage until 4 in the morning. Changing this, swaping that, adding this, losing that. Slingin' wrenches both high and low.

Its just a joke!

I was talking about my local import guys.... that of which is what I, as well as many others, have termed said group of individuals. Hence, there is such a "thing" as an "import guy" just as I am, among MANY others here, a "Mustang guy"

Chill out....

BTW... who the hell, in their right mind, would want to be in an office on a Monday morning!!!

cbring, What do you expect this is a mustang board!!! If you looking, and expect respect for the "ricers" here you are in for a long battle. About 90% of the import guys are all ricers. The other 10% are ones that you describe. So that means that the chances are that you are going to run into some kid with a riced out car that thinks it is the bomb (is that the cool word now?). At least for me that is the reason I can't stand the import guys.
Also most of us here build our cars to go fast, and have fun from stoplight to stoplight. The import people seem to think they can compete with us and are puting a target on there own back. It's all fun and compition if you don't like it go to a rice board for your enjoyment.

So by that logic the following also do not exist:

"Ford men"
"Mopar guy"
"Porscheophile"
"GM guy"

Aside from a small group of nut jobs at Freshalloy, all the guys who run imports I know are into at least 3 brands of imported cars. Would that not make them an "import guy"?

I've got one for everyone.

There is not such thing as, "An intelligent response from 'this is not cbring'"

He didn't run his mouth. He got extremely defensive, which is expected since he's on a Mustang board anyways, but he didn't talk crap or run his mouth.

What cbring said is true, there are real import enthusiasts out there that actually know what they're talking about. But he misunderstood the subject of a reply, which is ricers, not import enthusiasts. BIG DIFFERENCE! But no big deal, we just have to make clear to him that we realize there are true import enthusiasts out there, but there are also a ton of ricers.

Anyways, Eric, cbring didn't run his mouth, he didn't even say anything to you or remotely directed to you. He didn't even say anything that deserved any sarcastic reply the least bit from ANYONE.

Once again, your immature and irrational remarks amaze me. And a moderator? Sad......
