which MAF? 73mm, 76mm, 80mm??
i have a 89 GT 5.0 stang which has the following mods:
MAC 70mm tb & egr spacer TRICK FLOW street intake ADS performance chip under drive pulleys K&N cold intake sys. bbk shortties & h-pipe 3.73 gears what does the difference in size matter for the MAF sensors? my goal is to keep as much gas mileage as possible with this car, does having a bigger air flow have a negative effect? i do want to keep the 19# inj.'s on it and i'm thinking about getting the 73mm C&L MAF? should this be fine?? thanks |

Save your money towards a new pair of shocks or subframe connetors. The C&L wont do squat right now.

Hey acidangel, how do you like that a.d.s chip? do you run a thermostat in your car?
Oh, the subframe connectors are a good idea, but id go with a 75 maf when the time comes. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: 175k miles, steeda water pump pully, hurst shifter, Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, ADS chip, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs. the ads chip is nice.. but i haven't tryed any other chip to compare it to. it "apparently" adds 38hp/15lbs from mildly modified. i'm not sure if adds that much but i sure can feel the difference in drivability. plus, you can't beat the price.. only $170 through summit.

Josh, weld-in subframes are a must on every stang (that's a given). But, to answer your question, yes, you need to upgrade your MAF to a 75 now. Your stock MAF isn't sucking enough air to feed that TB or TFS intake.

Cool, i have one ads chip, i got it for free, but i dont feel a difference, or see it on timeslips, although i was told they are made to run with o-r h-pipe, and a colder stat, not sure if this is true, but sounds about right??
I still have cats and stock temp stat. And i'll have to agree with bada$$lx, subs are a must for any stang, i posted about my friends 85 coupe that had some welded, the car felt tighter, more responsive, i cant wait for mine. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: 175k miles, steeda water pump pully, hurst shifter, Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, ADS chip, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs. I have had good luck with my 76mm C&L, I would suggest that, however I agree I am not sure exactly how much power you will see, maybe 6HP. For some reason the Pro-M 75mm doesn't work as well with 24# injectors which you probably will go to eventually. I had the 75mm and it ran rich at low rpms and I haven't had any of those problems with the 76mm C&L and the tube looks great!
Definity go with a pair of subframes, they are a must. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! If you get subs get the full length. I got my kenny brown super subs from houston performance for $89. The ADS chip is junk. How they can claim 38hp is beyond me. I used to have one in my 90gt. Take it out and bump your timing to 14 and that will help even more.
