'01 Ram-Air TA thinks he's all that!
A friend of mine just bought a new '01 TA w/ ram-air. He's only got about 500 miles on it and putting around breaking it in.....and he's already shooting ooff his mouth. He's gonna this, he's gonna that, there's no N/A Stang that he can't beat......it never ends. Well, I told him that when he's good and ready, car's broken in, and he's comfortable driving it, to let me know whenever he wants a rude awakening. So, 10 car lengths? What do you think?

well if he can drive it right and when he breaks it in give him no more than 4 legnths to be on the safe side. if u run mid 12s the 2001 ram air T/As can run as good as a 12.9 if your an experienced driver. the '01s come with an ls6 intake to up the power from the 2000s.

By your times you whoop his a$$. Totally stock don't bet on him trapping more than 105. The easy mods will get him 108-109. Just don't give him 5 cars. As cocky as he sounds he probably give you the leave...

I think most LS1's hit 300hp at least 99% of them.

I am sorry but the LS6 intake is ONLY available on the Z06 Corvette or by Chevy parts over the counter, it was confirmed that the SS and RAM AIR won't even get the LS6 in 2002 as it was rumored. Go check camaroz28.com, it is on the front page.

I don't think you will beat him by ten cars...maybe 3-4, but you never know...I have sen those WS-6's run 108-109 with a good driver...so, we'll hope for the best eh?

I'm betting you'll take him by 10 cars. With your new mods I'd say you should be able to run low 12's.
Stock I'd bet your buddy will run a second slower. That's about 10 cars. |

lol, on fun ford friday this guy had the nerve to show up in his red 01 ramair, i lined up with him ready to get smoked, but i blew him away, but thats because he stalled his car?? turns out he was a 16 yr old kid who just got it, so he wanted to go again we went i had him off the line and something happened to him and he ran 15.?? my brother said the t/a's reverse lights came on while he was shifting....ouch!! he finally ran 13.6 against another car.

I'm figuring (if all goes well), I'll be able to take him by close to 10 cars, since I'm probably running 1 second faster. We'll see. As I said, it'll be a few weeks, but i'll let you all know the results.

With those times you should beat him by at least 3-4.. BTW all 2001 fbod v8's have the LS6 intake.. but that only adds a few hp without the LS6 heads (or ported LS1 heads).. GM likes to standardize to save $$.. By the way, not all of us LS1 guys are full of themselves

I agree Steve,
I shouldn't generalise like this but it seems to be a common problem. I still think you are wrong about the intake . I asked on camaroz28.com to check, if I am wrong I will gladly apologize but I read the GMHTP every second month and I am sure they would've mentioned it if it was the case. |

Steve and LT.......are you sure you guys really drive Camaros????? You two seem too cool not to drive a Stang. LOL. Kidding aside.....it's nice to see some cool/level headed Camaro owners in the mix.
