First real race @ a red light.

This was the first time i've ever really raced from a stop sign. I had been practicing on launching, and i got the hang of it somewhat. The car on the side was a 79-83 Maverik. We were actually racing in the freeway earlier that day, and later that night i pulled into a gas station and he came over aswell. We were talking for a bit and he said he had a V6 300hp, 4spd, he said nothing major in it. Anyways, he was at the light reving his car like crazy, i just kept calm and was looking at the other light to see when it turned red. As it got to the yellow i started to get ready, once it hit green i launched without any wheel spin. I was up infront of the maverik for like half a block, from 1'st - 3rd gear. But as i was in 3rd, all of a sudden the maverick just starting pulling me in like crazy. Next thing i knew i had um about 1-2cars length infront of me. We were doing 100 or so in the streets, so i let go of the gas and he kept going. At least i had um at the start...but oh well =)

Also earlier that night, we saw a pack of rice rockets. I tried messing with a couple, a prelude (99 or so) and like a 94 civic hatcback, sadly couldn't keep up with um. Too much traffic, and they weren't caring at all.

BTW, i actually had 6 ppl in the car (including myself), so i did good

Well, i must of misunderstood him... Either 300hp v6 or a 302 "V6"...i'm 80% sure he said V6, but mighta been a v8..

I bought the car supposily 'modded' but i don't notice anything. I took it to the mechanic, he said it had some pullies, saleen suspension(previous owner gave me reciepts for suspension & bunch o stuff), black lite flex fan (or something like that), the exhuast was changed, and everything else looks stock to me.

I added the msd stuff... MSD ignition, dist. cap... i pretty much got a major tuneup using msd parts and other high performance parts (basic stuff)

LoL... yes i'm insane, but once i reached 90-100 or so i stopped..and the way you fit six people is.. Cram 4 in the back seats, real uncomfterble.

Btw, i found out the maverick i was racing crashed. A friend of mine said he had a bunch of "shiny" chrome and 'high performance' look alike parts in his engine.

I think they stopped making Mavericks in the mid seventies, and I've never seen the yellow light come on before the green light unless your at a race track. Just an observation.

He was watching the other way stoplight....you can tell when yours is getting ready to turn green, by watching theirs....when it hits yellow (befre your green) your willbe within5-6 seconds....unless there is a car in the turn lane across from you befoer you got there......actually a good street racing strategy.

Btw, i was able to put 7people in my car on saturday =). 2 in front, 4 in rear seats, and 1 in the trunk lying down.
